๐Ÿงผ How to Count Window Panes & Screens for a Quote

At Epic Exterior Services, we make quoting window cleaning fast and simple โ€” and it all starts with counting your window panes and screens. Here's how to do it in just a few minutes!

๐ŸชŸ What Is a Window Pane?

A pane is each individual section of glass you see in a window. One window frame can contain multiple panes.

  • A single window with 1 sheet of glass = 1 pane

  • A window with 2 glass sections (top and bottom that slide) = 2 panes

  • A sliding glass door typically = 2 panes

  • A large front window with 3 glass panels = 3 panes

โœ… Tip: If glass is separated by a frame or sliding track, it counts as a separate pane.

๐Ÿ” How to Count Window Panes

  1. Walk around your home and count each individual glass section on every window.

  2. Count both upstairs and downstairs, front and back.

  3. Include sliding glass doors, garage windows, and basement windows if you'd like them cleaned.

๐Ÿง  Fun Fact: Most average homes have between 30-60 panes depending on size and layout.

๐Ÿงƒ How to Count Window Screens

Screens are the mesh inserts over your windows that keep bugs out.

To count them:

  • Only count removable exterior screens (usually on opening windows).

  • Don't include interior or decorative screens unless you want them cleaned.

  • Each screen covering a window = 1 screen

๐ŸŽฏ Pro Tip: If a screen covers two panes (like a double-hung window), it still counts as 1 screen.
